"Lose yourself in the hilly terrains of beautiful, lush greenery of woodlands" This short escape takes you to little-known and still pristine regions in the Himachal Himalayas. You start off with the apple and cherry orchard draped hill sides of Thanedar in the farthest reaches of the Shimla Hills and then embark on a thrilling drive to the incredibly thickly forested mountainside around the tiny hamlet of Sojha in the Seraj region. From here another picturesque drive will bring you to Sonaugi – a place that hushes the din inside you as you enter its strong, silent air to look in the eye the spectacular white ranges of the Dhauladhars up above the Beas River. The astounding landscapes & magnificent scenery that you will see would be more than aptly complimented by the hospitality experiences at each property you would be staying at. Hikes on trails less trod upon & visits to local villages have been woven into the plan to make for an immersive travel experience.

Day 1 Arrival Shimla Airport (Flight)/Thanedar (Banjara Orchard Retreat)
Distance: 99 Kms / Driving Time: 03 Hrs (Approx.)

Arrive Shimla by the morning flight that reaches around 1100 – 1200 hrs. Commence drive to Thanedar.

Enroute stop at Barog for lunch.

Thereafter continue towards Kandaghat, Shimla and Narkanda to reach Thanedar in the evening.

Upon arrival , check in & freshen up.

After a cup of tea, late in the evening go for a short walk to the neighbouring village.

Spend the evening relaxing beside a bonfire.

Dinner & Overnight stay in the Banjara Orchard Retreat.

Day 2Thanedar – Tani Jubbar Lake and Hatu peak visit/ hike

Morning have an experience of yoga session with a yoga instructor at the lodge. After a leisurely breakfast, Visit the Tani-Jubbar Lake (2400M) which is famous for the Nag-Devta temple. There on drive onwards to the Hatu Peak which, at 3352m offers a panoramic view of the snowline of Shrikhand Mahadev mountains.

On arrival start a short hike up to Hatu peak . During visit, you will be provided a Picnic lunch.

After visit, return to the Retreat. Evening around a bonfire. Nights stay in retreat.

Day 3Thanedar – Sojha
Altitude 2735 M / Distance: 95 Kms / Driving Time: 03-4 Hrs (Approx.)

Early morning you do the Saroga Forest Hike – a 2 hr hike on a forest trail that introduces you to the rich flora of the inner Himalayas. The forest is full of Blue pine, Silver Spur, Christmas tree, Spruce, Oaks, Rhododendron and Taxus Himalayana (the tree from which Taxol is derived and used for curing cancer).

After breakfast, Drive to Sojha.

Assistance upon arrival & Check into rooms at retreat, Freshen up. Serve Hot Lunch.

Overnight stay in the Banjara Retreat & Cottage.

Day 4Sojha – Full day hike to Serolser lake
Duration- 07-09 Hours

After an early breakfast (at 8 am approx.), leave for a hike to SEROLSER LAKE. Himachal Pradesh, with most of it lying in the lap of Himalayas, has an abundance of lakes.

The sun rays filtering through the tree cover, the blue of the sky through the foliage, the up and down of the trail, an occasional sight of a bird, a clearing showing the huge green vistas cascading down to the Sutluj valley, all of this and more will keep you an enchanting company all the way to the lake. The lake makes up in crystal clear clarity what it lacks in size. The local belief is that no one has ever found a leaf floating in the lake though leafy trees surround the lake itself. You will certainly not find a leaf floating in the lake. Nearby is a small temple beyond which the meadows start. A couple of teashops regularly come up between April-October. They have also some local sweets and savouries- worth trying. During summer a lot of Gujjars come with their buffaloes and cows to these pastures. It won’t be unusual if you bump into some carrying Khowa and paneer to the local market.

Spend your time with local scenic beauty & enjoy a picnic lunch on the banks of the lake.

Later head back to reach the property by evening.

Evening Bonfire. Enjoy Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 5Sojha – Mountain Biking + Hike to Raghupur Fort meadows
Duration- 4 Hrs

Morning Enjoy the yoga session with yoga instructor at lodge.

After a leisurely breakfast, Get ready to experience some real mountain biking - uphill right of about 5 kms to Jalori pass (10,800 feet) . Park your bicycles, enjoy the views & see the small temple here. Then start on the beautiful hike to Raghupur Fort Meadows.

Later proceed to visit RAGHUPUR FORT MEADOW.

From Jalori, it is a level walk in the open for about hundred meters towards Satluj Valley before it heads straight into the forest on a well-defined trail. The trail passes through a dense forest of Oak and Rhododendron & eventually opens into a huge lush green meadow. Here the tree line finishes and we move into a lush green meadow. Enjoy 360 degrees view of The Himalayas, Dhauladhar and Kinnaur ranges, all of them in one sweeping glance & also see the luminance of an ancient fort.

All around you are swathes of lush green meadows that gently descend into the oak and blue fir forests.
The meadows also happen to be the favourite ground of local shepherds. It is a sight to behold with hundreds of sheep and goats munching around with not a worry in the world, with at least couple of shepherd dogs in attendance.
Spend some time in the beautiful locale & hide back to the Jalori pass.

Mount your bicycles & enjoy a pleasant downhill ride to the property where a lavish hot lunch will be waiting for you.

Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 6Sojha-Sonaugi (Homestead)
Distance: 98 Kms / Driving Time: 03 Hrs (Approx)

You leave around 0700 hrs on a walk of about 1 ½ hr through thick Himalayan forest to an enchanting spot called Waterfall Point and then down to Sojha Village. The locals make colorful shawls and Puleh (a kind of footwear), watch them weave these. Be back at the retreat for breakfast. Leave after a leisurely breakfast and drive down to the base of Kulu Valley and then ascend towards Manali; we leave the main highway to go towards Naggar and the up into the hills to reach Sonaugi.

Later Check into your rooms at The Homestead. Freshen up and enjoy a hot meal. Rest of the day at leisure to relax and enjoy the lush tranquillity all around you.

Early evening do a short but delightful walk (about 20 mins each way) through Cedar lined paths to the Beas River flowing down in the valley.

Later you can also enjoy evening yoga session along with Yoga instructor in the open fresh air & bonfire.

Overnight stay in our Sonaugi Homestead.

Day 7Sonaugi (Homestead) – Day hike (Janna Village
Duration 04-05 hrs approx.

Early morning yoga session along with Yoga instructor in the open fresh air. Later proceed for Breakfast.

After the breakfast day hike to Janna Village which is among the oldest villages of the valley. As you climb up the Parking and walk on the kuccha path, you will reach Janna village in one and half hours – although most of the residents have moved down to Arcchandi on the left bank of the Beas. Here some interaction with locals and talk on local buildings/ infrastructure and on the Himalayan myth of Devtas. Enjoy a traditional meal in a local village home.

After village visit, have a further walk around 1 hrs towards to Janna water fall and spend some time to enjoy the beauty of nature and then return back by walk to Sonaugi homestead.

Take some rest at Lodge & Later enjoy Evening Yoga session at Lodge with Yoga Instructor in the property lawn & Bonfire.

Dinner & Overnight stay at Homestead.

Day 8Sonaugi (Homestead) - Mountain Biking to Bijli Mahadev Temple

Early morning yoga session along with Yoga instructor in the open fresh air. Later proceed for Breakfast. Post breakfast you will do a nice hike to Bijli Mahadev temple located at an altitude of about 2,460 m. It will take 2hrs to reach the top. From here you can capture some mesmerizing views from every direction. Later visit waterfall & enjoy picnic lunch. After lunch, drive back to Sonaugi. Return to the hotel.

Dinner and Overnight at the Lodge.

Day 9Sonaugi (Homestead) Departure

Morning after breakfast, you will be provided time assisted departure transfer to Kullu for your onward journey.
